59 Bulls sold at an average of $6,534
with a 76% clearance, top of $21.000

The 5th annual BullZeye Sale was a buyers' market in Capella last Friday, reaching a top of $21,000.

Out of 78 bulls on offer, 59 sold for a 76 per cent clearance, to average $6534.

​

With the absence of a bulk buyer in the stands, registered bid cards were spoiled for choice on the day.

​

The bulls offered on behalf of the eight Central Queensland-based vendors were of top quality and the figures didn't disappoint. The draft saw an average age of 23 months old, a weight of 793 kilograms and an eye muscle area of 134 square centimetres.

The sale started strong with the first lot of the day, Rondel Volvo (P), selling for the $21,000 top price to Nindethana Droughtmasters, Camp Mountain.

A son of Rondel Real Deal (S), the 27-month-old bull tipped the scales at 956kg with an EMA of 143sq cm. The young sire had the figures and the appeal to back him.

Second top price honours went to Hamadra Inject (P) who sold for $15,000 to DG and MH Burns, Capella.

Sired by Minlawcowie Salvador 8081 (P) from Hamadra Charlet (P), Inject was backed by impressive figures at 23 months old, boasting a weight of 876kg with an EMA of 144cm.

Next in line was Medway Branson (H), who sold for $12,500 to RK and L Parkinson, Capella.

At just 24 months old, the son of Medway Universal (D) was also backed with impressive figures of 894kg and an EMA of 144cm.

​

Bulk buying honours of the day went to three operations.

​

The Purnell family of Calioran Pastoral Co, Rolleston purchased four bulls with a top of $6,500 to average $4,500.

Undercliff Pastoral, Springsure also secured four bulls with a top of $7000 for an average of $5375.

Carmel Downs Pastoral, Clermont too purchased four bulls, which included a top price of $11,500, averaging $6375 per head.

Peter and Deleece Carrington and family of Rondel Droughtmasters, Winton sold 11 bulls with a top of $21,000 for a strong average of $9454.

Libby Ingram, Skye Droughtmasters, Alpha sold six bulls with a top of $7000 to average $4833 per head, while Steve and Claire Farmer of SC Droughtmasters, Yaamba sold to a top of $5000 and averaged $4333 from the three bulls sold on the day.

Will and Ingrid Haviland of Sugarland Droughtmasters, Capella sold three bulls to average $4000.

Drew and Kerri McKenzie of the Hamadra stud, Bluff sold 15 bulls, to top at $15,000 for an average of $6266.

Paul and Paula Russell of Locarno Droughtmasters, Dingo sold four bulls on the day to average $5125.

Hastings and Sandra Donaldson and family of Medway Droughtmasters, Bogantungan sold 11 bulls to top at $12,500 with a healthy average of $7136.

Cliff Mylrea, Needmor Droughtmasters, Gogango sold six bulls, topping at $11,000 to average $5750.

Many repeat clients were in attendance on the day, along with some new buyers.
